RIDE FOREVER
Copyright 2011 Carlene Thissen, Justin Mathias, Susan Nickerson

Curt was a man from the Everglades
Loved a lot of life - in the Glades he stayed
Had a airboat for giggin' frogs
Had a Swamp buggy for huntin' hogs
This good old boy's number 1 machine - was a Harley Davidson he named Christine

He had a true love he called Sweet Sue
Half Miccosukee and the Glades' own, too.
They got married, had a kid - then two
Life was good and the fishin' was too
She was his oyster shucking queen - and every evening they'd ride Christine

CHORUS

They'd ride - ride forever
They'd glide - through the night
Their lives were tied - together
And together - they'd ride forever

VERSE 3,4

His birthday - 50 years old
'Felt something strange, made his blood run cold
Then he started forgetting things
Made little jokes about his own name
The doctor said, "I'm sorry, son, Ain't no easy way to say it - you don't have long."

Curt came home to Sue in tears
Said, "I've got some news that's hard to hear,"
"Babe, I just found out today
"That pretty soon, God's takin' me away,
But I promise that I'll wait for you, No matter how long - 'til it's your time, too."

CHORUS 2:

We'll ride - ride forever
We'll glide - through the night
Our souls tied - together
And together we'll ride forever

VERSE 5

The whole town came from miles around
They were standin' there on that mournful ground
When Sue came - riding on Christine
The damn-dest thing they'd ever seen
She said, "There'll be no stone to name
Curt's with me, riding in the frame."

CHORUS 3:

Yeah, they'll ride - they'll ride forever
They'll glide - through the night
They'll always be together
Yeah together they'll ride forever

And together they'll ride forever

Long Song Description:
Story of a good old boy in the Everglades and his true love, Sweet Sue, who rode together on his Harley. Curt died, but promised he would wait for Sue on the other side. Most people will think that "Curt's with me riding in this frame" is a metaphor, but they actually drilled a hole in his Harley and poured his ashes in, so he and Sue could Ride Forever.
Story Behind the Song:
Curt was one of our best biker buddies. He married his true love, Sweet Sue, and together they had two children and lived a happy life, riding his Harley in the Everglades. Sadly, Curt got brain cancer when he was just 50 years old, and died not long after. Before he died, he asked his wife to have his friends drill a hole in the frame of the motorcycle and pour his ashes in, so he could Ride Forever.
