Clouds Above the Rain
Lyrics
Clouds above the Rain
Copyright Carlene Thissen 2006

A stormy day on a slow runway,
I’d been sad since Dad passed away,
Then we lifted off into the dreary clouds
On top of the rain in the bright sunshine,
I heard some music quite sublime,
A familiar voice, playing and singing out loud.

REFRAIN

My father was there, on a big bright cloud
Happy and gay, Toes tapping and
Playing his banjo, and singin’ his old songs
On the clouds above the rain.

VERSE 2

When the jet sped on he waved goodbye,
but I knew that I could always find
Him on cloudy days when I was on a plane.
He’ll be waiting for me when it’s my time
But for now I’ll stay in the earth’s sunshine
Stop my tears and start singin’ in the rain

Because I know, he’s right above me
Hearing me play and adding harmonies
Strumming his banjo and singing his old songs
On the clouds above the rain.

BRIDGE
When I meet St. Peter,
I’ll ask to be allowed
To join my Dad and form a band --- Of angels on that cloud

REFRAIN 3

We’ll all be there, on that great day
And that’s where I’ll stay, For eternity
Playin’ my guitar and singing our old songs
On the clouds above the rain.
